Federal funding has been blocked in a house vote, Friday April 8, 2011 for low income woman’s health provider, Planned Parenthood. According to its latest annual report, Planned Parenthood received $363.2 million in government grants and contracts in its 2008-2009 fiscal year, up from $349.6 million in FY 2007-08.

In this 240-185 vote, the House approved an amendment that would deny Planned Parenthood and each of its local affiliates from receiving any federal funding under Title X, the federal program that subsidized sexual health and family planning services.
